The Sealy Company began its life in 1881 when Daniel Haynes a cotton gin maker was asked to make a mattress filled with cotton for a neighbor.  The neighbor so enjoyed this newly designed mattress that others began asking Mr. Haynes to make them a mattress just like it.  In 1889 Daniel Haynes received a patent for his invention.  Daniel Haynes was located in Sealy Texas and soon people began referring to this type of

mattress as a Sealy.  Daniel Haynes sold all the rights for his invention in 1906 to a Texas company that kept the name of Sealy as it had earned a reputation that was positive for the manufacturing of this mattress. 

From there the Sealy Company has been on the forefront of creating and designing mattresses that are unique and comfortable for the last century.  The posturepedic crib mattress is just one of the many products that Sealy offers consumers and the name does make consumer feel comfortable with their choice in mattress.
